What Does a Sewer Line Inspection Entail for Homeowners?

A sewer line inspection for homeowners is a video-camera check of the main drain from an accessible cleanout to the street connection, with recorded findings you can keep. Most inspections start by running a camera through 3–6 inch lines up to about 200 feet to spot roots, cracks, sags, or blockages and to verify flow. If buildup blocks the view, the technician may clean first with a rooter or hydro-jet. Larger pipes can be inspected with a crawler camera, and electronic locating can mark depth and path for accurate repairs. You’ll receive clear recommendations and upfront explanations before any work begins. Our team performs these inspections throughout the Champaign–Urbana area with options that avoid unnecessary digging. Members of our Comfort Family plans receive an annual sewer line camera inspection.

You’ll typically receive:

  • Inspection video file or link for your records
  • Written findings with locations and depths
  • Repair or maintenance options (spot repair, lining, or replacement)
  • Line path mapping if electronic locating is used

Schedule an inspection at the first sign of slow drains or backups to prevent bigger repairs.
